2019年小學(xué)英語晨讀練習(xí)：《The hare and the tortoise》

　　Once a hare was playing near a lake in a forest. Suddenly he saw a tortoise and made fun of him. He said， “Hurry up， you slow coach！ I could have run to the other side of the lake by now.”

　　從前，有一只兔子正在森林里的湖邊玩耍，突然間他看到一直烏龜，然后就開始笑話他：“走快點(diǎn)啊，你這個(gè)慢性子，這個(gè)時(shí)間我都能跑到湖對(duì)面了。”

　　The tortoise felt teased and dared the hare to a race. The race was to be through the wood to the top of the hill.

　　烏龜感到被嘲笑了，于是就向兔子發(fā)起了比賽。看誰先穿過森林，到達(dá)山頂。

　　The hare laughed and agreed. In a few minutes he was away and out of sight.

　　兔子大笑著答應(yīng)了，幾分鐘之后兔子就跑得遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)的看不見了。

　　“What a funny race it is！” he said to himself， “I am already half-way through. But it is too cold； why not have a nap in the warm sunshine？”

　　“這個(gè)比賽真搞笑，”兔子自言自語道，“我都跑完一半的路了，不過天好冷，不如睡個(gè)午覺曬曬太陽！”

　　The tortoise walked steadily on and on. In a short time， he passed by the sleeping hare.

　　烏龜慢慢地走啊走，過了不久，他就從睡著覺的兔子身邊走了過去。

　　The hare slept for quite a while. When he woke up at last， he looked around in surprise and said to himself， “I can‘t even see poor tortoise anywhere； I had better finish the race.”

　　兔子睡了很久，終于他醒了，他四處看了看，驚訝地說：“我都還看不到那只可憐的烏龜?shù)挠白印＿�是跑完比賽吧！”

　　The hare ran to the goal. He was amazed to see all the animals cheering the tortoise who had arrived just a minute earlier. How ashamed he felt indeed！

　　兔子跑到終點(diǎn)，驚訝地發(fā)現(xiàn)所有的動(dòng)物們都在為烏龜歡呼。原來烏龜就在幾分鐘前到達(dá)了終點(diǎn)。他感到羞愧極了。

　　Moral： Slow and steady wins the race.
